A(I) Brighter Tomorrow: Cancer and Beyond
The Gallery of ARTFul Medicine , January 24 – April 18, 2025
The Fine Art Program and Collection at Montefiore Einstein is pleased to announce the opening of “A(I) Brighter Tomorrow: Cancer and Beyond,” on January 24, 2025. The Exhibition features a range of installations, interactive displays and immersive experiences that challenge traditional perspectives on illness and healing. Through the contributions of visionary artists, scientists, and cancer survivors, visitors are invited to explore how art can transform the way cancer is perceived. Focusing on the multifaceted experiences of those affected by cancer— patients, caregivers, and medical professionals—the exhibition offers a comprehensive portrayal of the cancer journey. It delves into themes such as fertility and its loss, the unique challenge of facing cancer under the age of 50 and the critical importance of communication in healthcare. Balancing hope with realism, the exhibition carves out space for empathy and deeper understanding.
The exhibition is co-curated by Natalia Marin, independent art curator and medical student based in Bucharest, Romania, and Jodi Moise, Director of The Fine Art Program and Collection at Montefiore Einstein. Artists include Federico Muelas, Suzanne Anker, Anna and Jordan Rathkopf, Anna Dumitriu, Alex May, Dr. Sabina Scuri, and Vladimir Gheorghiu
The exhibition Features Federico Muelas’ graphic novel “T(H)UMOR: Dear Cancer Diary… ” along with three short comic stories created by this author about cancer survivors from Montefiore’s Bronx Oncology Living Daily (BOLD Buddies) program.
