BOLD BUDDIES STORIES

BOLD Buddies Stories is a 30-page comic that depict the cancer journeys of three survivors from the Bronx Oncology Living Daily (BOLD) program: Ann, Rita, and Sam.  Bronx Oncology Living Daily (BOLD) is a free, community-based wellness and support program for people affected by cancer in the Bronx. Launched in 2008 by Montefiore Einstein

These stories were featured in the art exhibition A(I) Brighter Tomorrow: Cancer and Beyond at The Gallery of ARTFul Medicine at Montefiore Einstein. The comics were presented in two formats: as digital experiences on custom engineered, touchless iPad readers created specifically for the show, and as large printed excerpts on vinyl, mounted directly on the gallery walls. Visitors could also access and read the full comics on line in both English and Spanish using a QR code available at the exhibition

The BOLD Buddies Stories comics has been also published in full in the Annals of Internal Medicine in June 2025. The Annals of Internal Medicine is a peer reviewed academic journal published by the American College of Physicians and is one of the most widely cited and influential specialty medical journals in the world. It features research and content relevant to the field of internal medicine and its subspecialties

The impact of the BOLD Buddies Stories has been a great success. In addition to the thousands of visitors who read it in person at the hospital, it received media coverage from outlets such as Bloomberg Connects, Amos News, Mann Report and BronxNet TV among others.
